DIY FRIDAY: Super Easy Exfoliating Lip Scrub

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

  • 1/8 CUP OF HONEY (preferably raw)
  • 2-3 TABLESPOONS OF SUGAR (white or brown)
  • 5 DROPS OF VITAMIN E OIL
  • STORAGE CONTAINER
  • MIXING UTENSIL
This scrub is an easy and simple way to keep your lips lusciously smooth and non-flaky- which aids in flawless lipstick application. I typically apply this as soon as I get out of the shower- or even while I'm in it!- so the steam can open up my skin.

If you are having a hard time finding vitamin E oil, I typically find it in the all-natural section of the grocery store or I get this one from Trader Joe's off of Amazon. You can also use Coconut Oil- I prefer the Trader Joe's version of that as well :)

DISCLOSURE: The mixture recipe given makes more than the pictures show. The pictures show about 1 tablespoon of honey and 1 1/2 teaspoons of sugar.

Put your sugar in your small fancy container and add the honey.
Next, and your Coconut or Vitamin E oil.
Blend until you have a thick mixture. You are looking for a gritty, sticky consistency. Test the sugar to honey ratio by rubbing your fingers together: If it more sticky than sugary, add more sugar. If it is extremely rough and gritty, and honey in small amounts.

TO APPLY:

Wet your lips with warm water. take a small amount of scrub and massage onto your lips in a circular pattern for about 1 minute per lip. For added benefits, let the scrub sit on your lips for a few minutes- the honey and oil are great natural moisturizers. Afterwards, wipe the scrub with a warm washcloth, following with some moisturizing lip balm to keep the treatment going.

That's all there is to it! Happy DIY Friday!

Currently Craving: Shoes for the Next 6 Months

Lately, I've found myself gravitating towards shoes rather than clothing. Now, that is nothing out of the ordinary; I've always been a shoe hoarder. I've just seen so many interesting shoes that, instead of coming out of the store with 2 bags of clothes and maybe a pair of shoes, I come out with 3-4 shoeboxes and maybe some pants or a dress. My, er, obsession, has also spread to the online shopping world, so I thought I would share with you what I'm currently craving- from sandals to boots.
Currently Craving: Shoes of August

1. Bejeweled Sandals

I've always wanted a pair of slip-on sandals in this specific style. For some reason, I am just in love with the over and between the toe design. the colors and bejeweledment (I just made that word up) makes them even better! (find these at Monsoon here)

2. Detailed Loafers

Loafers are my favorite shoes right now. One of the most versatile pairs of shoes I've ever owned, I can wear them with shorts, with a casual dress and even plain ol' jeans. I like these tapestry ones because they can easily spice up a boring outfit; the leopard ones I can wear with my favorite red dress and the black + gold chain loafers are a little more quaint so I can wear them with office wear to work. (get the tapestry here, the leopard here, and the black + gold chain here)

3. Oxford Style Boots

Ever since last year's oxford trend (forget last year, I still wear mine) I've been dying for a pair of boots in the same style. I've never been a fan of low boots (mid-calf is my limit) but lately I've seen some super awesome pairs. I would wear these babies out! (find these tan leather ones here at Modcloth)

4. Simplistic Sandals

Living in Texas, you need to have multiple pairs of sandals since you never know when summer is actually going to end, and I can go through 2 pairs per summer. I love these simply designed sandals because their design makes them so versatile, I can pair them with dresses or pants. Get these over at .

5. Chunky Heeled Sandals

I would take a good chunky heel over stilettos any day. This particular pair (from TOPSHOP, here) seems like they could be a go to pair because not only are they neutral, they incorporate all neutrals. So I could wear them with everything, right? Right.

6. Chunky Heeled Boots

Like I said above, I love a chunky heel. Since it will get cold (eventually) I'll need boots. And these will do the job. I particularly love the black white contrast. It adds such a unexpected pop, even to an all black ensemble. Get them here at Zara.

What do you think of my picks? Would love to hear your comments!

XO, Livy
